To Lead People, Walk Behind Themย
Jul 21, 2021“To lead people, walk behind them.”
A simple instruction that was left by the Chinese sage, Lao Tzu thousands of years ago.
He didn’t say, “To lead people is to carry them."
Or drag them behind you.
Or motivate them to take action.
Or lose sleep over their results.
No.
It’s much simpler, although not always easy.
WALK BEHIND THEM.
How I read the deeper layers of his words:
๐ซ Trust people find their own way
๐ซ Let go of control and rigidity
๐ซ Listen more, speak less
๐ซTenderness is key
๐ซ Learn to lead from behind
๐ซ Love is unconditional witnessing of another’s process
To lead people, walk behind them.
Let that caregiver archetype rest more.
Allow people to find their way.
Gently walk behind them.
In that lays a deep peace of walking the path of leadership.
